About Desert Launch
An independent software studio in Cairo, Egypt. Every project is designed and built by one senior engineer, which is the whole point rather than a limitation to apologise for.
What Desert Launch is
Desert Launch is a software studio based in Cairo. It builds mobile apps, web platforms, MVPs and internal business systems for companies in Egypt, the Gulf, Europe and the United States.
It is deliberately small. Abdullah Mohamed founded it and builds every project personally — the person you message on WhatsApp is the person who writes the code. If a project ever needs a specialist, you are told who and why before they start.
That size sets the boundaries honestly. We take on a small number of projects at a time, and we will tell you when a piece of work is a poor fit for a studio this size rather than take it and stretch.
Who builds your product
Abdullah Mohamed is a senior software engineer with more than five years shipping production web and mobile products, working with clients across Egypt, the Gulf, Europe and the US. He works in English and Arabic.
The portfolio on this site was designed and built by him — some of it as Desert Launch client work, some during earlier senior engineering roles, and one product (Voicers) in-house. We say which is which rather than letting a logo wall imply that every one of them was a Desert Launch engagement.
How we work
- A free scope call first. You describe the problem; we tell you what it would take, and whether a smaller build gets you there.
- A fixed price in USD, in writing, before you commit. Never hourly billing.
- Three or four milestones. 30% upfront, the rest per milestone, and a milestone is not accepted until you say it is.
- Everything in your name from day one: code, intellectual property, hosting, domains and store accounts.
- Twelve months of free support after launch, with small changes free for the first three.
What we do not do
- Hourly billing, or a quote that grows every month.
- Handing your project to a subcontractor you never meet.
- Holding your accounts, your domain or your code as leverage.
- Taking work we cannot finish well, to keep a pipeline full.
Languages and hours
Project work happens in English or Arabic. This site is translated into French, Spanish and German so it can be found and understood in those markets, but the conversation, the documents and the delivery are in English or Arabic — we would rather say that plainly than promise a language we cannot support properly.
We work from Cairo, which is UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer. That is within an hour of every Gulf capital and one to two hours from most of Europe. First replies come within 12 hours and usually much faster.
